COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts in Instructional Technology is a 30-semester-hour online graduate program designed to prepare professionals to effectively integrate technology into teaching, learning, and training environments across educational institutions and industry settings. The program emphasizes instructional design, online learning, educational technology leadership, and research-based development of digital learning solutions, equipping graduates to create, evaluate, and manage technology-enhanced instructional environments. The degree requires completion of 15 credit hours of core coursework and 15 credit hours of electives, allowing students to build both foundational expertise and specialized skills aligned with their career goals. Core courses include Computer-Based Instruction (CAT 531), Instructional Technology Design (INTE 532), Online Teaching and Learning (INTE 533), Issues and Trends in Instructional Technology (INTE 534), and Instructional Technology Research and Product Development (INTE 589), which collectively focus on instructional theory, design principles, research methods, and the application of emerging technologies in education. In addition to the core, students select five elective courses from a range of specialized topics such as assistive and adaptive technologies, assessment and evaluation in instructional systems, game-based learning, mobile learning, instructional leadership, technology project management, artificial intelligence in instructional design, and IT internships, allowing for customization based on professional interests and career aspirations. One elective course may also be taken outside the program or transferred from another institution with advisor approval, providing additional flexibility. The program is designed to serve both educators and professionals in business, government, healthcare, and corporate training environments who seek to improve learning outcomes through technology integration.
