COURSE CURRICULUM

The Executive MBA (EMBA) program at the Manderson Graduate School of Business is a 48-credit-hour, cohort-based graduate degree designed for experienced professionals seeking advanced leadership and managerial training while continuing full-time employment. The curriculum is highly team-oriented and emphasizes applied learning through a boardroom-style educational approach that integrates case studies, simulations, structured debates, collaborative projects, presentations, and analytical problem-solving. This design prepares students to make effective decisions in complex and uncertain business environments characterized by competing priorities, limited information, and significant time and financial pressures. The program is structured around 16 courses, each carrying 3 credit hours, delivered over four academic terms in a sequential format that supports progressive skill development. Students begin in the Spring Term I with foundational courses in managerial accounting, business communication, statistical analysis, and spreadsheet-based decision modeling, building core analytical and communication skills. In Summer Term II, students progress into functional business disciplines such as financial management, leadership and ethics, marketing management, and operations management. Fall Term III expands into managerial economics and information systems while also introducing focused area of study (FAS) electives that allow students to tailor their learning to specific professional interests. The final Spring Term IV includes strategic management, global business perspectives, and additional FAS electives that reinforce specialization and executive-level decision-making. Throughout the program, students work in consistent study teams, typically meeting weekly either in person or online, fostering collaboration, leadership development, and peer learning. An online learning platform, Blackboard, supports instruction by providing access to course materials, facilitating communication with faculty, and enabling assignment submission and collaboration. Overall, the EMBA program integrates academic rigor with practical executive experience, equipping students with advanced skills in strategy, finance, leadership, and global business necessary for senior management roles.
