COURSE CURRICULUM

The General Business major requires students to complete a set of foundational coursework across key business disciplines to build a broad and integrated understanding of how organizations operate. The program is structured around 18 credit hours of upper-level coursework selected from core business areas, allowing students to gain exposure to accounting, finance, economics, management, marketing, and general business strategy. Students begin by choosing one accounting course that may focus on managerial decision-making, corporate financial reporting, or cost analysis and control, providing insight into how businesses track, interpret, and use financial information. They then select a finance course that introduces financial institutions, markets, and investment principles, helping students understand how money flows within the economy and how financial decisions are made. An economics course is also required, offering knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics, or applied economic analysis, which helps students understand market behavior and economic decision-making at both individual and organizational levels. In addition, students choose a course in management, international business, entrepreneurship, leadership, or negotiations, which develops skills in organizational behavior, decision-making, and strategic leadership. A marketing course is also required, covering areas such as consumer behavior, retail management, personal selling, or digital marketing, which helps students understand how products and services are developed, promoted, and delivered to customers. Finally, students complete an additional approved upper-level business elective to further strengthen their knowledge in a specialized area of interest. Overall, the program is designed to provide flexibility while ensuring students gain a strong, well-rounded foundation in all major areas of business, preparing them for diverse career opportunities or advanced study in business, law, or related professional fields.
