COURSE CURRICULUM

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering (BS) degree must complete a total of 126 credit hours, including University, College of Engineering, and departmental requirements, along with General Education and ancillary coursework. The program is designed to provide a strong foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering principles while developing specialized knowledge in environmental systems and sustainability. Early coursework includes foundational engineering subjects such as engineering graphics, statics, mechanics of materials, dynamics, and fluid mechanics, along with surveying and construction materials to build core engineering understanding. Students also study environmental engineering fundamentals, geotechnical engineering, hydrology, water resources engineering, and environmental measurements to understand natural systems and engineered solutions. Advanced courses focus on critical environmental challenges, including solid and hazardous waste management, water and wastewater treatment, air quality engineering, and environmental capstone design projects that apply knowledge to real-world problems. The curriculum also includes engineering statistics and systems electives, ensuring students develop strong analytical and decision-making skills. In addition, students choose general electives from approved technical and professional disciplines to broaden their academic experience. Ancillary coursework provides essential scientific and mathematical preparation, including biology with laboratory, general chemistry, calculus through differential equations, and physics with calculus, along with an approved additional science course. These subjects build the scientific foundation necessary for understanding environmental processes and engineering applications. The program emphasizes the integration of science, mathematics, and engineering design to address environmental issues such as pollution control, water resource management, and sustainable infrastructure development.
