COURSE CURRICULUM

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BS) degree must complete a total of 126 credit hours, including all University, College of Engineering, and departmental requirements. The curriculum combines General Education, core engineering courses, specialized electrical engineering subjects, laboratory-based learning, and technical electives to build both theoretical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills. In the early stages of the program, students take foundational courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and introductory engineering, along with general education courses in humanities and social sciences. These early courses are designed to develop analytical thinking and provide the scientific base required for advanced engineering study. The core Electrical Engineering curriculum begins in the second year and covers essential topics such as electric circuits, electronics, electromagnetics, digital logic, signals and systems, electric power and machines, and microcomputers. Students also complete a preparation course for global engineering practice and two semesters of Capstone Design, where they work on real-world engineering projects that integrate knowledge from multiple areas of the field. In addition, students must complete at least one laboratory-based lecture and lab series in specialized areas such as communications, power systems, control systems, digital systems, or embedded systems, ensuring hands-on technical experience. The program also requires technical, ECE, and professional electives, allowing students to specialize in areas such as robotics, machine learning, communications, or business-related fields, while ensuring depth in at least one discipline. Ancillary coursework includes advanced mathematics such as calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, probability, and physics, which are essential for understanding complex engineering systems. The program is structured to progressively build knowledge from basic science to advanced engineering applications, preparing students for careers in industries such as aerospace, energy, electronics, telecommunications, automotive, and computing, as well as for graduate study in engineering and related fields.
