COURSE CURRICULUM

The Educational Neuroscience B.S. program is an interdisciplinary degree designed to integrate neuroscience, psychology, education, and research methods to prepare students for careers in educational research and practice. It focuses on understanding how the brain supports learning and cognition and how biological processes interact with individual, social, and cultural influences in education. Students complete general education courses in mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, anthropology, human development, writing, history, and world language to build a broad foundation for scientific and human behavior understanding. The major includes core courses such as Brain Learning and Cognition, Educational Psychology, Educational Statistics, computational methods, experimental design, cognitive neuroscience, and neuroimaging techniques. Students also gain hands-on experience through laboratory research practicums, electrophysiology training, and advanced experimental coursework that develops technical and analytical research skills. Interdisciplinary electives allow students to study biology, psychology, communication disorders, philosophy, anthropology, and physics, and support optional pre-medical or advanced research pathways. Overall the program combines scientific theory, education studies, and practical research training to prepare graduates for advanced study and careers in neuroscience, education, psychology, and healthcare. It also ensures students meet general education requirements including writing composition, U.S. and global citizenship, and core humanities and social sciences while completing at least 120 total credit hours. The program emphasizes critical thinking, data analysis, and evidence based practice, helping students connect brain science with real educational challenges in classrooms and learning environments. Graduates are well prepared for graduate studies and professional roles in research institutions, healthcare fields, educational development, policy work, and applied cognitive science, with strong skills in both theory and applied methodology. They develop the ability to analyze complex learning systems, interpret neuroscientific data, and design innovative evidence based educational strategies that improve teaching, learning outcomes, and understanding of human cognition across diverse populations.
