COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BS) program is designed to prepare students for careers in designing, developing, and applying modern computer hardware and software systems, with a strong emphasis on embedded and cyber-physical systems that integrate computing into real-world engineering applications. Students gain a broad foundation in mathematics, physics, and engineering principles during the early part of the curriculum, followed by intensive core study in digital logic, circuits, electronics, programming, microcomputers, signals and systems, and computer architecture. The program also includes hands-on laboratory experiences and a two-semester capstone design sequence that allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to real engineering problems involving system design and integration. In addition, students complete technical and professional electives that enable specialization in areas such as communications, control systems, digital design, or microelectronics. The curriculum requires supporting coursework in advanced mathematics, including calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, and probability, as well as physics and chemistry foundations. By combining theory with practical design and lab work, the program prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in industry, including hardware and software engineering, systems analysis, embedded systems development, networking, and data systems management, as well as for graduate study in engineering, computer science, business, or professional fields such as law and medicine. Students must complete all University, College, and departmental requirements totaling approximately 128 credit hours and maintain academic standards throughout the program. Overall, the Computer Engineering degree emphasizes problem-solving, system-level thinking, and technical innovation, equipping students to work in rapidly evolving technology-driven environments where computing systems are central to engineering solutions across multiple industries.
