COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering requires students to complete a total of 126 credit hours, which include university general education, major coursework, and ancillary requirements. The major portion consists of 74 credit hours and covers a wide range of engineering fundamentals and specialized aerospace topics. Students begin with introductory engineering courses and progress into core subjects such as statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, aerospace structures, propulsion systems, compressible flow, and flight dynamics and control. Design is an important component of the program, with courses in integrated aerospace design that allow students to apply their knowledge to real-world engineering problems. The program also requires 18 credit hours of electives, including 9 hours of aerospace engineering electives and 9 hours of STEM electives, allowing students to explore advanced topics such as astronautics, computational fluid dynamics, spacecraft dynamics, composite materials, machine learning, or engineering statistics. Ancillary requirements contribute 30 credit hours and include foundational courses in chemistry, calculus (I, II, and III), linear algebra, differential equations, and physics with calculus. These courses provide the scientific and mathematical background necessary for understanding complex aerospace systems. General education requirements are also part of the degree and vary depending on the student’s plan of study. Throughout the program, students must follow the academic policies of the College of Engineering and ensure they meet all prerequisites and performance standards.
