COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s program in Applied Mathematics requires a minimum of 30 graduate credits, excluding any deficiency courses that may be assigned based on a student’s background. The core curriculum provides a strong foundation in advanced mathematical methods and applications, beginning with required courses such as MATH 621 Real Analysis, MATH 627 Advanced Numerical Analysis I, and MATH 633 Methods of Applied Mathematics I, each designed to develop rigorous analytical and computational skills. Students must also select at least one course from Group 1, which includes MATH 625 Analytic Function Theory, MATH 628 Advanced Numerical Analysis II, or MATH 632 Advanced Partial Differential Equations, allowing students to focus on specialized areas of mathematical theory and techniques. From Group 2, students choose at least two courses from options such as MATH 634 Methods of Applied Mathematics II, MATH 635 Optimization Theory and Methods, or MATH 730 Advanced Numerical Solution of Partial Differential Equations, further enhancing applied and computational proficiency. The program offers both thesis and non-thesis options, each accounting for 12 credits, providing students with the opportunity to engage in original research or advanced coursework tailored to professional and academic goals. This structured yet flexible curriculum ensures that graduates are prepared for interdisciplinary research, applied problem-solving in industry and government, and further doctoral studies in mathematics or related fields.
