COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of public health concepts and practical skills necessary for professional practice in the field. The curriculum requires a minimum of 42 semester credit hours and combines core courses, a generalist track, capstone projects, and elective options to ensure a well-rounded education. Core courses, totaling 18 credits, include Public Health Concepts, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Health Services Administration, and Environmental Health Sciences, providing foundational knowledge across the key domains of public health. The generalist track, comprising courses such as Grant Writing in Public Health Practice, Public Health Practice and Issues, and Public Health Research and Evaluation, focuses on developing applied skills and critical thinking to address real-world public health challenges. The program culminates in a two-part Capstone Project, allowing students to synthesize knowledge and demonstrate competency in designing, implementing, and evaluating public health interventions. Additional electives, including a practicum, special topics courses, and independent study, offer flexibility for students to tailor their education to individual interests and career goals. By integrating theory, research, and practical experience, the MPH program prepares graduates to work effectively in diverse public health settings, from policy and administration to community-based programs and research.
