COURSE CURRICULUM

The Nursing program is designed to prepare students for a professional career as a registered nurse by providing a comprehensive and rigorous education that combines foundational knowledge, technical skills, and clinical experience. The program requires a total of 120 credit hours, including 36 credits of General Education, 32–33 credits of preadmission courses, and 78 credits in the Nursing Core. General Education coursework ensures students develop essential academic skills and broad knowledge in areas such as mathematics, statistics, writing, speaking, arts and humanities, natural and social sciences, diversity, and integrated learning experiences, fostering critical thinking and communication abilities essential for nursing practice. Preadmission courses provide the scientific and academic foundation necessary for nursing, including human anatomy and physiology with labs, microbiology, chemistry, English composition, statistics, psychology, public speaking, and an introduction to nursing, equipping students with a strong understanding of biological, social, and communication principles. The Nursing Core emphasizes professional and clinical competence through courses in ethics, developmental psychology, nutrition, health assessment, pharmacology, pathophysiology, mental health, and care across the lifespan, as well as leadership, evidence-based practice, and community health. Extensive practicum experiences and senior-level courses allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world clinical settings, ensuring they graduate as competent, confident, and adaptable registered nurses ready to meet the diverse and evolving demands of health care.
