COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Surveying and Mapping builds upon the foundational knowledge acquired in the Associate of Applied Science in Land Surveying, providing a comprehensive pathway to professional practice and licensure. This program requires a total of 121 credit hours, combining general education, program-specific coursework, and technical electives to ensure both breadth and depth of knowledge. General education includes academic foundations such as mathematics, statistics, logic, writing, and speaking, alongside breadth of knowledge courses in arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, with integrated learning opportunities in complex societal issues or capstone experiences. Core surveying and mapping courses introduce students to geomatics, topographic, construction, boundary, and advanced surveying techniques, as well as practical fieldwork, computer applications, mapping with drones, and safety practices. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mathematics for surveyors complement the technical skillset, while additional courses in physics and technical algebra strengthen analytical abilities. Students also complete professional and technical electives to broaden expertise and support specialization. Several courses satisfy both general education and program requirements, maximizing efficiency in degree completion. Graduates emerge with a rigorous understanding of surveying, mapping, and geospatial technologies, prepared for careers as surveying technicians or for advancement toward licensure as professional surveyors, with skills applicable across construction, land development, engineering, and geospatial industries.
