COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Statistics with a Data Science track requires students to complete a comprehensive curriculum totaling 120 credit hours, designed to provide a strong foundation in statistical theory, data science applications, and general academic skills. Students begin with 36 credit hours of General Education coursework, covering academic foundations such as mathematics, writing, and communication, as well as breadth of knowledge in the arts, natural sciences, and social sciences, including opportunities for domestic and global diversity studies and integrated learning experiences. In addition, students complete 8 credit hours of College of Arts & Sciences requirements, which include upper-level coursework both within and outside the major, fostering a well-rounded academic experience. The core statistics curriculum consists of 36 credit hours, covering essential topics such as probability, regression, statistical modeling, and multivariate analysis. The Data Science component, totaling 12 credit hours, focuses on computational methods, data management, programming, and practical applications of statistical techniques to real-world datasets. Students also select 6 credit hours of statistics electives to deepen their expertise in areas of interest. Finally, an additional 22 credit hours are required to meet the total graduation requirement, allowing flexibility for internships, capstone projects, or other elective courses that enhance professional readiness and practical experience in data-driven careers.
