COURSE CURRICULUM

The Chemical Engineering curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in mathematics, natural sciences, engineering principles, and specialized chemical engineering knowledge, preparing students to tackle complex technological problems. Students begin with general education coursework in writing, speaking, mathematics, statistics, logic, arts, humanities, social sciences, and diversity studies, totaling 36 credit hours, alongside program-specific courses such as Calculus, Chemistry, and introductory Economics. Foundational courses in math and natural sciences, including Calculus II and III, Differential Equations, Classical Physics, and Qualitative Analysis, build the analytical skills necessary for advanced study. Core chemical engineering courses focus on material and energy balances, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, chemical reaction engineering, fluid and thermal operations, mass transfer, process economics, and process design, integrated with project management and teamwork modules, totaling 42 credit hours. Advanced chemistry coursework, including Organic Chemistry and laboratory experiences, deepens chemical knowledge, while technical electives allow 15 credits of specialized study in areas such as polymer chemistry, bio-based polymers, electrochemical engineering, corrosion science, or interdisciplinary engineering topics. Additional engineering and STEM electives expand expertise and flexibility. Together, this rigorous program balances theory and practice, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on experience, equipping graduates to excel in diverse chemical engineering careers and contribute to innovation in emerging technologies.
