COURSE CURRICULUM

Bachelor of Science in Biology program is carefully structured to provide students with a strong foundation in the life sciences while allowing flexibility for specialization and interdisciplinary learning. In the first year, students complete English Composition I and II, Precalculus Mathematics, Principles of Biology I and II, Principles of Chemistry I and II, and associated laboratories, along with an introductory public speaking course, building essential skills in communication, quantitative reasoning, and scientific literacy. The second year emphasizes genetics, ecology, organic chemistry, and laboratory experience, while integrating introductory statistics and elective or minor coursework to broaden analytical and interdisciplinary skills. In the third year, students advance to cell and molecular biology, upper-level biology electives, social science, arts, and humanities courses, along with foreign language or additional electives, fostering critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and cultural literacy. The fourth year focuses on upper-level biology electives, advanced interdisciplinary coursework in arts, humanities, complex issues, and diversity, ensuring comprehensive knowledge of biological principles, research methodologies, and societal context. Across the four years, students engage in both theoretical and practical experiences, developing expertise in experimentation, data analysis, and scientific communication, preparing them for graduate study, research, or careers in health sciences, biotechnology, environmental science, or other biology-related professions, with a total of 120 credit hours completed.
