COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Automated Manufacturing Engineering Technology (AMET) integrates general education, core technical courses, and discipline-specific electives to prepare students for advanced careers in manufacturing and automation. Students complete 36 credit hours of general education, including academic foundations in mathematics, statistics, logic, speaking, and writing, breadth of knowledge in arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, diversity courses covering domestic and global perspectives, and integrated learning such as capstone or complex societal issues courses. The program builds on foundational courses from the Associate of Applied Science in AMET, including technical algebra and trigonometry, physics, mechanical design, engineering drawing, materials technology, fluid mechanics, and manufacturing processes. Core AMET courses include advanced manufacturing, work measurement and cost estimating, industrial safety, robotics and automated manufacturing, manufacturing operations, computer-aided tool design, quality assurance, and CNC/additive manufacturing. Cooperative education provides hands-on industry experience. Additional upper-level courses expand knowledge in chemistry, economics of technology, industrial machine control, electronics, facilities planning, CNC programming, advanced quality practices, and automated production, along with preparation for the SME Manufacturing Technologist Certification. Students complete six credits of technical electives tailored to their interests, such as plastics design, fluid power, statistics, or electrical systems, ensuring a flexible, career-focused education that equips graduates with the technical expertise, analytical skills, and practical experience necessary for leadership and innovation in modern automated manufacturing environments.
