COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Organizational Supervision program at The University of Akron provides a structured pathway for students to develop essential leadership, communication, and supervisory skills, particularly for those who already have prior college experience or an associate degree. The recommended sequence begins in the third year with foundational communication courses such as Introduction to Communication, Intercultural Communication, Principles of Organizational Supervision, and Leadership Principles & Practices, alongside any remaining general education requirements, totaling 15 credit hours in the fall semester. In the spring semester, students advance to courses including Interpersonal Communication, a selected Communication Theory course, Organizational Communication, and two Communication electives, again completing 15 credit hours. The fourth year emphasizes applied skills with courses such as Data Collection and Information Design, supplemented by multiple Communication electives and any outstanding general education requirements in the fall semester. The spring semester focuses on integrating knowledge through the Complex Issues Requirement while completing remaining general education requirements, maintaining a 15-credit-hour load.
