COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics (PPE) track requires a minimum of 120 credit hours for graduation, integrating a broad foundation of general education, college requirements, and specialized interdisciplinary coursework. Students complete 36 credits of general education, including academic foundations in mathematics, logic, writing, and speaking, along with breadth of knowledge courses in arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, supplemented by domestic and global diversity and integrated and applied learning experiences. College of Arts & Sciences requirements include demonstrating proficiency in a second language through completion of the second year of a foreign language sequence or the Survey of Deaf Culture in America. The core of the PPE track consists of 54 credits distributed evenly across Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics, with students completing a minimum of 15 credits in each discipline. Philosophy coursework emphasizes ethics, logic, and specialized electives such as the philosophy of science or law; Political Science focuses on political research, thought, and advanced electives; Economics includes economic analysis, intermediate macro- and microeconomics, and advanced electives. Additionally, students select nine credits of social science PPE electives to strengthen interdisciplinary integration and real-world application. Sixteen additional credits are required to satisfy graduation requirements, allowing for further exploration or specialization within the liberal arts framework.
