COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with a Philosophy, Sociology, and Psychology (PSP) track is an interdisciplinary degree that integrates coursework from all three fields to provide students with a broad understanding of human behavior, social structures, and ethical reasoning. The program requires a total of 120 credit hours, including 36 hours of General Education, 14 hours of College of Arts & Sciences requirements, 54 hours of core PSP courses, and 16 additional credits for graduation. General Education coursework emphasizes academic foundations such as mathematics, logic, writing, and speaking, as well as breadth of knowledge in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, while also encouraging domestic and global diversity and integrated learning experiences. College of Arts & Sciences requirements include two years of foreign language proficiency or equivalent study. The PSP core consists of a minimum of 15 credits each in Philosophy, Sociology, and Psychology, with Philosophy courses covering ethics, philosophy of mind, neuroethics, and philosophy of science, Sociology emphasizing theory, social inequalities, family, race and gender studies, and Psychology focusing on developmental, social, and diversity-related topics. Students also complete nine credits of PSP electives to deepen interdisciplinary knowledge. This rigorous curriculum equips graduates with critical thinking, analytical reasoning, ethical decision-making, and research skills, preparing them for careers in social services, education, policy, counseling, or further graduate study in related fields.
