COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Akron requires a total of 120 credit hours, integrating general education, College of Arts & Sciences requirements, core psychology courses, electives, and additional credits for graduation. General Education includes 36 credit hours covering academic foundations such as mathematics, statistics, speaking, and writing, as well as breadth of knowledge in arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. Courses emphasize diversity, including domestic and global perspectives, with options like Psychology of Diversity, Cross-Cultural Psychology, and Psychology of Women, and provide integrated and applied learning opportunities such as Psychology of Hate. College of Arts & Sciences requirements include demonstrating language proficiency through the second year of a foreign language or American Sign Language and completing at least 40 upper-level credits inside or outside the major.
