COURSE CURRICULUM

The Political Science undergraduate program requires a minimum of 120 credit hours for graduation, including 36 credits in General Education, 14 in College of Arts & Sciences requirements, 15 in Political Science Core courses, 18–20 in 300/400-level Political Science courses, and 35 additional credits. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.2 to graduate. Recommended General Education coursework includes Academic Foundations such as mathematics, statistics, logic, speaking, and writing, as well as Breadth of Knowledge courses in arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. Diversity and Integrated/Applied Learning courses may fulfill both general education and major requirements, including a capstone or courses addressing complex societal issues. College of Arts & Sciences requirements emphasize foreign language proficiency through the second-year level and at least 40 upper-level credits both inside and outside the major, excluding workshops. The Political Science Core includes courses in U.S. government, world politics, comparative politics, political research, and political thought, forming a strong foundation in the discipline. Advanced-level courses allow students to explore specialized topics, internships, and seminars, providing opportunities for practical experience and professional preparation. Overall, the program integrates theoretical understanding, comparative analysis, and applied learning to equip students for careers in government, public policy, international affairs, and related fields.
