COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a focus on Intelligence and National Security Studies requires a minimum of 120 credit hours, including 36 in General Education, 14 in College of Arts & Sciences requirements, 15 in required Political Science courses, six in track core electives, 11 in track electives, and 38 additional credits. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.2 to graduate. General Education coursework emphasizes Academic Foundations, including mathematics, statistics, logic, speaking, and writing, along with a Breadth of Knowledge across arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, and may include diversity and integrated or applied learning courses. College of Arts & Sciences requirements include demonstration of proficiency in a foreign language through the second-year level and completion of at least 40 upper-level credits both within and outside the major. Required courses provide foundational knowledge in U.S. government, world politics, comparative politics, political research, and political thought. Track core electives allow students to specialize in areas such as international politics, American foreign policy, homeland security, and intelligence analysis. Track electives offer opportunities to explore terrorism, counterterrorism, global security, political extremism, human rights, and applied skills like geographic information systems and communications. This comprehensive program equips students with analytical, research, and practical skills for careers in intelligence, national security, law enforcement, diplomacy, and related fields.
