COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies requires a total of 120 credit hours, including 36 hours of General Education, 6 hours in Foreign Culture, 54 hours in Multidisciplinary Studies coursework, and 24 additional elective credits. Students must complete the General Education curriculum, which includes courses in mathematics, speaking, writing, arts and humanities, natural and social sciences, and diversity, along with an integrated and applied learning component. The Foreign Culture requirement includes a minimum of six credits in coursework related to foreign language, sign language, or cultural studies, with options to complete these through approved study abroad experiences. For the Multidisciplinary Studies requirement, students may choose between two tracks. Track 1 consists of 21 credits in a primary area within the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences (BCAS), 15–18 credits in a secondary area, and 15–18 credits in a tertiary area. Track 2 includes 30 credits in a primary BCAS area and 24 credits in a secondary area, which may be outside BCAS. All courses must be approved by the Associate Dean, ensuring coherence and depth in the individualized plan of study. This flexible structure encourages intellectual exploration, interdisciplinary integration, and academic customization to align with each student’s personal and professional goals.
