COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies requires a total of 120 credit hours, designed to provide students with a comprehensive and interdisciplinary understanding of global issues and perspectives. Students must complete 36 credit hours of General Education requirements, ensuring a strong foundation in critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics. Within the College of Arts & Sciences, an additional 14 credit hours are required, focusing on broad academic competencies that complement the major. The program emphasizes the development of a global mindset through 12 credit hours of Mindset Courses, which cultivate cultural awareness, ethical reasoning, and problem-solving in international contexts. Language proficiency is an essential component, with 9 credit hours dedicated to language courses to prepare students for effective cross-cultural communication and engagement. Students also complete 18 credit hours of electives, allowing for specialization in areas of personal or professional interest, including international relations, global development, environmental studies, or regional studies. Finally, 31 additional credits are required to meet graduation standards, providing flexibility for experiential learning, study abroad, research, or other enrichment opportunities.
