COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in General Music provides students with a comprehensive liberal arts education while allowing them to pursue their passion for music. This program emphasizes both musical development and intellectual exploration, giving students the flexibility to study music in depth while also engaging with courses across other disciplines. Students gain foundational skills in music theory, history, and performance, and have the opportunity to tailor their curriculum to their individual interests, whether within music—such as composition or performance—or through interdisciplinary studies that complement their artistic pursuits.To graduate from the School of Arts and Sciences, students must complete a total of 120 credit hours. This includes general education requirements, major-specific coursework, and electives that allow students to explore specialized topics or broaden their academic experience. Some programs within the School of Arts and Sciences, including Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Psychology, may require additional credits due to the rigor of their curriculum.Graduates of the General Music program are well-prepared for careers in music performance, teaching, arts administration, or for advanced study in music and related fields. By combining artistic training with a liberal arts foundation, students develop critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills that are highly valued in a variety of professional and academic settings.
