COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science program is a 31-credit-hour, thesis-based degree offered at San Marcos, designed to prepare students for multidisciplinary careers in fields such as information systems, engineering management, and computer science. The program includes an open elective component that allows students to broaden their knowledge and align their studies with diverse professional interests. This flexibility helps students build skills that are applicable across multiple technical and managerial domains.A central feature of the program is the thesis, which serves as the culminating research activity. Through this, students gain advanced, hands-on experience in solving large-scale, real-world problems in industry or business settings. The research process strengthens their analytical, problem-solving, and technical abilities while also enhancing communication skills. Students are encouraged to present their work at various platforms, including internal symposiums, regional and local conferences, and major national events such as the IISE Annual Conference and Expo and the INFORMS Annual Meeting. Overall, the program combines academic rigor with practical research experience, preparing graduates for high-level professional roles or further academic pursuits.
