The Mechanical Engineering 4.0 (ME4.0) undergraduate program is designed as a modern, Industry 4.0–focused engineering degree that integrates traditional mechanical engineering principles with advanced digital and smart manufacturing technologies. Unlike conventional mechanical engineering programs, ME4.0 emphasizes the development of intelligent, interconnected, and digitally integrated mechanical systems that interact with virtual environments and modern industrial infrastructure. Students gain a strong foundation in core mechanical engineering subjects such as mechanics, thermodynamics, materials, and design, while also being trained in emerging technologies that are transforming modern industry. These include sensor systems, real-time communication networks, big data analytics, engineering simulation, additive manufacturing (such as rapid prototyping and 3D printing), and human–machine collaboration systems. A key feature of the program is that Industry 4.0 concepts are embedded directly into courses, curriculum design, and laboratory facilities, ensuring that students continuously apply modern tools and technologies throughout their studies rather than learning them in isolation. This approach prepares graduates to work in highly digitalized and automated engineering environments where mechanical systems are closely connected with data, software, and intelligent control systems. The primary goal of the ME4.0 program is to equip students with both traditional mechanical engineering expertise and advanced digital engineering competencies so they can effectively design, analyze, and implement next-generation engineering solutions.
