COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Music program is structured as a four-year degree plan totaling 124 semester credit hours, combining general education requirements with intensive music study, performance training, and ensemble participation. In the freshman year, students begin with foundational music courses in theory, aural skills, applied instruction, and ensemble participation, along with general education classes such as English composition, communication, mathematics, and introductory university studies. Students also start exploring performance-based courses and elective options while completing initial ensemble and applied music requirements.During the sophomore year, students continue advancing in music theory and aural skills while progressing through applied lessons and ensemble participation. This year also includes additional general education coursework in areas such as creative arts, history, political science, and natural sciences. Language study options may also be included depending on student selection. Ensemble involvement and applied study remain consistent, ensuring continued development of performance skills alongside academic progress.In the junior year, coursework becomes more advanced and specialized, focusing on upper-level music theory, literature, and performance-based classes. Students engage in higher-level ensemble work and applied music study while also completing music electives and supporting academic courses in sciences and political science. This stage emphasizes refinement of musicianship, technical skill, and performance readiness through increasingly complex repertoire and academic analysis.The senior year is dedicated to advanced performance training, culminating coursework, and completion of remaining general education requirements. Students take upper-level applied instruction, ensemble participation, and specialized music seminars while also completing communication, literature, philosophy, and social science courses. By the end of the program, students have completed 124 credit hours that integrate academic knowledge, performance experience, and professional-level musicianship. The curriculum ensures that graduates are well-prepared for careers in music performance, education, or further graduate study through a balanced combination of theory, practice, and general education.
