COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Computer Science program at Syracuse University is designed to provide students with a flexible yet rigorous academic structure that ensures both depth and coherence in their studies. In addition to the four required core courses, students must complete six elective courses selected from a broad range of graduate-level offerings in computer science and computer engineering. To maintain academic quality, certain conditions apply to the selection of courses. Students are permitted to include a maximum of two courses at the 500 level, ensuring that the majority of coursework remains at an advanced graduate level. Furthermore, the complete set of ten courses must form a coherent program, meaning that any courses taken outside the computer science discipline must meet relevancy criteria and contribute meaningfully to the student’s overall academic focus. Within the 30-credit requirement, students may choose to complete and defend a master’s thesis, which can account for up to six credits.
