COURSE CURRICULUM

Saint Louis University’s Physician Assistant (PA) Master of Medical Science program follows a structured, comprehensive 27-month curriculum totaling 102 credits, designed to provide students with both foundational knowledge and extensive clinical experience. The first year focuses on core biomedical and clinical sciences, beginning with fall courses such as Introduction to Clinical Laboratory Medicine, Physiology, Hematology Fundamentals, Clinical Pharmacology, and Principles of the Medical Interview, totaling 18 credits. In spring, students deepen their understanding of human gross anatomy, dermatology, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, rheumatology, neurology, and clinical procedures, again earning 18 credits. The summer term includes specialized pharmacology, pulmonary, cardiovascular, gastroenterology fundamentals, and clinical procedures, contributing 9 credits.In the second year, the fall semester intensifies with advanced topics covering clinical pharmacology, pulmonary, cardiovascular, nephrology, endocrinology, surgery, emergency medicine, pediatrics, behavioral medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, clinical procedures, and clinical reasoning seminars, comprising 22 credits. The spring semester is devoted to core clinical rotations in internal medicine, family medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine, along with a graduate seminar, totaling 17 credits.The third year, fall semester, focuses on clinical rotations in pediatrics, behavioral medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, evidence-based medicine clerkship, electives, and concludes with a graduate seminar, totaling 18 credits. This integrated approach balances didactic coursework with diverse clinical rotations to ensure students graduate with comprehensive medical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional readiness to succeed as compassionate and competent physician assistants.
