COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health Sciences program follows a structured four-year plan of study totaling 121–122 credits, combining foundational science courses, core curriculum requirements, and health-specific coursework. In the first year, students begin with a strong introduction to biology through General Biology I and II with lab components, which are designated critical courses. They also take courses in psychology, English rhetoric and research, college algebra, calculus, and introductory health sciences, along with electives and core seminars that focus on community, theology, and aesthetics. The second year builds on this foundation with chemistry lectures and labs, as well as courses in medical terminology, U.S. healthcare systems, and health care management. Additional coursework includes philosophy, statistics, and further electives, providing a well-rounded academic experience. In the third year, students delve into specialized topics such as health law, anatomy and physiology (with labs), and research methods, which is a critical course satisfying a core requirement. Electives continue to be part of the curriculum, allowing flexibility in exploring areas of interest. The final year emphasizes advanced topics like neuroscience, healthcare technology and informatics, and global epidemiology. Courses on quality management and hot topics in health care help students understand emerging issues in the field. Students also complete a communication core and additional electives to meet graduation requirements. Throughout the curriculum, critical courses are strategically placed to ensure that students gain essential knowledge and skills required for success in healthcare professions or graduate studies. The integration of scientific, technological, managerial, and ethical components prepares students for the complex nature of modern healthcare.
