COURSE CURRICULUM

Key components of the anthropology program at Saint Louis University include a robust social science curriculum that covers the subfields of cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and archaeology. Students benefit from lab courses offering hands-on learning, fieldwork opportunities, independent research projects, and connections with the broader community through internships, study abroad experiences, and a senior capstone project. Students can choose an emphasis in one of four subfields: cultural/social anthropology, which explores human cultures in the present or recent past; physical/biological anthropology, which focuses on humans from a biological and evolutionary perspective; linguistic anthropology, which examines how language shapes social life; and archaeology, which investigates the ancient and recent human past through excavation and analysis of material remains.
