COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Cybersecurity at Brooklyn provides students with an advanced, interdisciplinary education combining criminal justice, computer science, and forensic accounting to prepare graduates for leadership roles in the growing field of cybersecurity. The program requires students to have completed undergraduate prerequisites, such as CYB‑302/502 or COM‑360, or equivalent courses, ensuring a strong foundation in computer communications and security principles. The core curriculum consists of 27 credits of required courses that develop expertise in the technical, legal, and ethical aspects of cybersecurity. Students begin with CYB 500, Ethics and the Criminal Justice System, and CYB 501, Criminal Procedure and Legal Rights, which provide critical insight into the legal frameworks governing cybercrime and digital investigations. CYB 503, Cyber Crime, and CYB 550, Fraud Examination, focus on identifying, analyzing, and preventing cybercriminal activity. Technical proficiency is strengthened through courses such as CYB 520, Mobile Applications, Services and Security, CYB 560, Network Security, and CYB 561, Software Security, covering system protection, secure coding, and threat mitigation. Students also gain hands-on expertise in digital investigations through CYB 570, Computer Forensics Investigation and Response, and CYB 575, Practical Applications of Computer Forensics.To apply their knowledge in real-world settings, students complete a six-credit field practicum, choosing between CYB 505, Professional Capstone, or CYB 506, Internship for non-professionals, allowing them to develop practical experience in cybercrime prevention, forensic investigation, or security analysis. Graduates are prepared for careers in law enforcement technology, digital forensic investigation, ethical hacking, cybersecurity analysis, and anti-money laundering operations.
