COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA in Health Care Management at St. Joseph’s University is a 36-credit program designed to develop advanced leadership, managerial, and operational expertise in the healthcare sector. Admission to the program requires completion of several undergraduate prerequisites, including HA 430, HA 481 or NU 231 or NU 431 or GMSC 501, HA 493, HA 496, and MAT 151 or BUS 222 or GMSC 503, ensuring students enter with the foundational knowledge needed for advanced study.The program consists of a combination of core management courses and specialized healthcare management courses. Core management courses include MGT 500, Leadership and Managerial Development; MGT 520, Organizational Theory and Design; MGT 525, Marketing Concepts and Strategies; MGT 610, Statistical Applications in Research and Management; MGT 655, Operations and Quality Management; and MGT 690, Integrative Analysis in Management. These courses provide students with essential business skills, strategic decision-making abilities, and analytical tools applicable across industries.Healthcare-focused courses provide specialized knowledge in the legal, ethical, financial, and operational aspects of healthcare organizations. These include HCM 511, Health Care Law and Medical Ethics; HCM 532, Management of Health Care Information Systems; HCM 560, Health Care Services and Systems; HCM 641, Health Care Finance and Reimbursement; HCM 660, Health Care Operations Management; and HCM 680, Health Care Strategic Planning.
