COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA in Accounting at St. Joseph’s University is a 36-credit advanced program designed to develop leadership, managerial, and technical expertise in accounting. Admission requires completion of specific undergraduate prerequisites, including accounting courses such as ACC 110 (transfer credit) or ACC 200, along with ACC 211, ACC 212, ACC 213, ACC 215, ACC 241, ACC 320, ACC 342, and ACC 417. Business prerequisites include BUS 100, BUS 150, BUS 151, BUS 219, and BUS 222, while foundational economics knowledge is ensured through ECO 120 and ECO 226.The program consists of eight graduate management courses and four graduate accounting courses. Management courses focus on building strategic and analytical capabilities with MGT 500, Leadership and Managerial Development; MGT 510, Legal Issues in Management; MGT 530, Management Information Systems; MGT 550, Strategic Human Resources Management; MGT 610, Statistical Applications in Research and Management; MGT 630, Managerial Economics; MGT 662, Corporate Financial Management; and MGT 690, Integrative Analysis in Management. These courses cultivate skills in decision-making, corporate governance, and research-driven management practices.The accounting component emphasizes advanced technical and analytical expertise with ACC 555, Advanced Federal Income Taxation; ACC 565, Forensic and Investigative Accounting; ACC 665, Financial Accounting Theory and Research; and ACC 675, Advanced Auditing. Together, these courses prepare students for leadership positions in public, private, institutional, and governmental accounting, while also fulfilling competencies required for CPA licensure in New York State.Graduates of the program gain a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial management, and investigative practices, equipping them to pursue careers as certified public accountants, auditors, financial analysts, forensic accountants, and corporate managers.
