COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics major at St. Joseph's University, New York allows students to pursue either a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, both requiring the completion of 40 credits in mathematics with a minimum average grade of C. Alongside these major requirements, students must also fulfill the university’s Core Curriculum to ensure a well-rounded academic foundation.For students pursuing the B.S. degree in Mathematics, additional science requirements are included to strengthen their technical and analytical background. These include General Physics I and II, along with a 3-credit science elective, providing exposure to applied scientific concepts that complement mathematical study.The program also offers an Actuarial Science strand for students interested in careers in insurance, finance, and risk analysis. This pathway includes additional recommended courses such as Theory of Interest and Advanced Topics in Probability and Statistics, which are essential for actuarial work.
