COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Technology at St. Joseph's University, New York includes a structured set of prerequisite, required, and elective courses designed to prepare students for careers in information systems and technology management.Before beginning the major, students are expected to have foundational knowledge in computing and mathematics. This includes completing Computer Applications I or an equivalent course, Introduction to Computer Programming, and Elementary Functions: Precalculus. These prerequisites ensure students are prepared for more advanced technical coursework.The major requires 34 credits of core courses that build both theoretical understanding and practical skills. Students study Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, followed by programming courses such as Computer Programming and Advanced Application Programming. Core topics include Algorithms and Data Structures, Software Engineering and Methodology, and Computer Science: An Overview, which provide essential knowledge of how software systems are designed and implemented.
