COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting includes a comprehensive set of core and required courses designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation in liberal arts, accounting, and business disciplines. Students must first complete core curriculum requirements, guided by the institution’s Core Curriculum Guide, which ensures a well-rounded educational experience. Within the liberal arts component, students are required to take courses such as Macroeconomics and Microeconomics to understand economic systems, along with Writing for Effective Communication and Communication for Professionals to develop essential writing and workplace communication skills. Mathematics requirements include College Algebra and Mathematics for Business and Economics, which build quantitative and analytical abilities. Additionally, students must complete either Introduction to Ethics or Ethics and Business to gain an understanding of ethical decision-making, along with Introduction to Human Communication to strengthen interpersonal skills.Beyond liberal arts, students are required to complete a computer applications course, choosing between Computer Applications I or II, to develop practical technical skills. The accounting curriculum forms the core of the major and includes a progression of courses such as Fundamentals of Financial Accounting, Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I and II, Principles of Federal Taxation, and Managerial Accounting. Advanced topics are covered through courses like Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting, Accounting Information Systems and IT Auditing, Advanced Accounting, and Principles of Auditing, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.In addition to accounting, students must complete courses in Business Law, including Business Law I and II, to understand legal frameworks affecting business operations. Finance courses such as Principles of Finance and Principles of Investments provide insight into financial decision-making and markets. Students are also required to take Statistics to build data analysis skills and Process of Management to understand organizational operations and leadership. Together, these courses prepare students with the knowledge and skills needed for successful careers in accounting and business.
