COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Technology Management at Southeast Missouri State University is a 33–36 hour graduate program designed to prepare professionals for advanced leadership roles in industrial, technical, and engineering environments. The curriculum combines management theory with applied technical knowledge to help students improve organizational performance, lead innovation, and solve real-world industry problems. Core courses such as Facilities Management, Managing Technology Innovation, Advanced Quality Concepts, and Technology Supervision in a Diverse Workplace focus on developing leadership skills, improving operational efficiency, and managing diverse technical teams in modern workplaces. Additional foundational courses like Innovation for a Lean Enterprise and Knowledge Management emphasize continuous improvement, strategic thinking, and the effective use of information in decision-making processes. Students also complete Understanding Graduate Research, which strengthens their ability to analyze complex industrial challenges using research-based methods.The program offers three flexible completion paths: Class Track, Project Track, or Thesis Track. The Class Track includes Modeling and Simulation along with a comprehensive final examination, while the Project Track emphasizes applied research through a practical project. The Thesis Track focuses on independent research culminating in a formal thesis. Each option allows students to tailor their academic experience based on their career goals and professional interests.In addition to core requirements, students select 9–12 hours of graduate electives from areas such as industrial technology, engineering, manufacturing systems, environmental management, networking, and technical communication. Courses like Operations Research, Industrial Controls, Energy Management, Risk Assessment Applications, Sustainable Manufacturing, Network Security, and Technical Leadership provide opportunities for specialization in areas relevant to modern industry demands.Overall, this program prepares graduates to become effective managers, supervisors, and technical leaders who can drive innovation, manage complex systems, and improve productivity across a wide range of industrial and technological sectors.
