COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSBA in Business Analytics at Southeast Missouri State University is a 30-hour major built on a strong business core and supported by analytical and technical coursework. The program is designed to equip students with the skills needed to analyze data, build predictive models, and support business decision-making in a data-driven world.The Business Administration Core (30 hours) provides a foundation in key business areas such as accounting, finance, management, marketing, business law, and information systems. Courses like Principles of Accounting I & II, Financial Management, and Business Policy and Strategy ensure students understand how organizations operate. Students also select an international-focused course, helping them develop a global business perspective.The Support Courses (27 hours) strengthen communication, economic understanding, and foundational technical skills. These include microeconomics, macroeconomics, business communication, professionalism, critical thinking, computer applications, and oral communication. A mathematics course is also required, preparing students for advanced analytical work.The Business Analytics Major (30 hours) focuses on technical and data-driven skills. Students complete programming courses such as Introduction to Computer Programming, Computer Science I and II, building a strong coding foundation. Advanced courses like Machine Learning and Data Mining teach students how to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and make predictions. Statistics courses such as Elementary Probability and Statistical Methods further develop data analysis capabilities.Students can tailor their learning through electives in areas like econometrics, business forecasting, operations management, and accounting analytics. Additional elective choices across multiple business and technical disciplines allow for further specialization. The program also includes a Microsoft Excel certification, ensuring proficiency in a key industry tool.Overall, the program combines business knowledge with programming, statistics, and analytics, preparing graduates for careers such as data analyst, business analyst, and roles in finance, marketing, operations, and technology-driven industries.
