COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) at Southeast Missouri State University is a flexible 30-hour major supported by a strong foundation of core and support courses. The program is designed to give students broad knowledge across multiple business disciplines while allowing customization based on career interests.The Business Administration Core (30 hours) covers essential areas of business, including accounting, finance, management, marketing, business law, and information systems. Courses such as Principles of Accounting I and II, Financial Management, Principles of Management, and Principles of Marketing ensure students understand how businesses operate. The program concludes with Business Policy and Strategy, which integrates knowledge from all areas to solve complex business problems. Students also choose one international-focused course, gaining a global perspective on business operations.The Support Courses (27 hours) strengthen communication, analytical, and technical skills. These include microeconomics and macroeconomics, business communication, professionalism, statistics, analytics, computer applications, and oral communication. Mathematics and critical thinking courses further enhance problem-solving abilities, which are essential in business decision-making.The Business Administration Major (30 hours) is highly flexible. Students take Applied Ethical Leadership and then select 27 hours of upper-level business courses across at least four different disciplines such as accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, or analytics. This structure allows students to tailor their degree to specific career goals, whether in management, entrepreneurship, finance, or other areas. A required course from options like project management, business research, or supply chain management ensures practical, career-relevant skills.Students also complete an additional statistics course to strengthen data analysis capabilities. The program limits overlap between majors and minors to ensure a well-rounded education.Overall, the BSBA program combines a comprehensive core, strong analytical support courses, and a highly customizable major.
