COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSBA in Management: Human Resource Management at SEMO is a 36-hour major designed to prepare students for careers in human resources, talent development, recruitment, compliance, and organizational strategy. The program builds a strong foundation in business through a 30-hour Business Administration Core that covers accounting, finance, management, marketing, business law, and information systems, along with strategic business policy. Students also select an international-focused course such as global logistics, international finance, international management, or international marketing to strengthen their understanding of global business environments.Supporting coursework (27 hours) develops essential skills in communication, economics, mathematics or quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, computer applications, and oral communication. These courses ensure students are prepared for advanced HR studies and professional workplace expectations.The HR Management major core focuses on leadership, talent development, and workforce strategy. Students complete key courses in human resource management, management skills, and leadership in management, along with Microsoft Excel certification. A required real-world experience component allows students to gain practical exposure through an internship, international academic program, or approved professional experience.The HR specialization includes advanced courses in talent acquisition, compensation, legal and union issues, HR strategy and analytics, negotiation, and talent development. Students also choose additional electives in areas such as labor economics, organizational behavior, project management, teamwork, HR topics, or management internships, allowing them to tailor the degree to specific career goals.Overall, the program integrates business fundamentals with specialized human resource training and real-world experience. Graduates are prepared for careers in HR management, recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, compliance, training and development, and strategic workforce planning across a wide range of industries.
