COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor’s Degree in Technology Management at Southeast Missouri State University is designed for students who already have a strong technical background through work experience, military service, certifications, or an associate degree. The program integrates prior learning with advanced academic coursework to prepare students for leadership roles in technical industries. Core required courses include technical communication, industrial safety, science and technology in society, statistical process control, manufacturing research, industrial supervision, project-based learning, and an internship that provides real-world industry experience. Students also study mathematics, computer applications, engineering economics, physical science concepts, and cultural and social diversity to build a strong interdisciplinary foundation.The program includes flexibility through technical electives, which are selected in consultation with an advisor. Students complete lower-level and upper-level electives that allow specialization in areas aligned with their career goals. These may include fields such as construction, manufacturing, electrical systems, mechanical systems, networking, facilities management, or other technology-related disciplines. Additional elective credits can also be applied based on prior experience, including work history, military training, or nationally recognized certifications, which may account for a significant portion of degree requirements after departmental review.Overall, the program is structured to recognize prior professional learning while strengthening technical, analytical, and managerial skills. It prepares graduates for supervisory and management positions in technology-driven industries by combining academic study with applied industry experience and flexible specialization options.
