COURSE CURRICULUM

The Industrial and Safety Management program in Technology Management at Southeast Missouri State University prepares students for technical and managerial roles in industrial, manufacturing, and safety-focused environments by combining engineering fundamentals, applied technology, and management training. The curriculum begins with core courses in technical communication, industrial safety, science and technology, statistical process control, engineering economics, manufacturing research, supervision, and project-based learning. Students also complete coursework in mathematics, computer applications, physical science concepts, and cultural and social diversity to build a strong interdisciplinary foundation. An internship is included to provide real-world industry experience.The Industrial and Safety Management option focuses on developing expertise in workplace safety, production systems, and industrial operations. Students study industrial ergonomics, occupational health, risk assessment, industrial hygiene, and facilities planning to understand how to create safe and efficient work environments. Technical training includes electric circuits, programmable logic, engineering design processes, materials testing, and manufacturing processes, along with programming and computer applications used in industry settings. Quality assurance, manufacturing resource analysis, and lean enterprise innovation further strengthen students’ ability to improve industrial efficiency and productivity.Additional elective options allow students to explore areas such as construction methods, facilities management, mechanical design, and advanced technical communication. Overall, the program integrates safety science, engineering technology, and management principles to prepare graduates for careers in industrial supervision, safety management, manufacturing operations, and technical leadership roles in modern industry.
