COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies at Southeast Missouri State University is structured to provide maximum flexibility while ensuring students complete a career-focused degree. All students must take the core course College to Career, which helps them transition from academic study to professional employment. From there, students choose between two tracks: the Creator Track or the Pathfinder Track.The Creator Track requires 27 credit hours and is designed for students who want to build a customized academic path. It includes courses such as Exploring Academic Disciplines, Project Development Workshop, and Project Seminar, which guide students in designing and completing a final project. Additionally, students select 18 hours of coursework across at least two different disciplines, allowing them to create an interdisciplinary focus aligned with their interests and career goals.The Pathfinder Track offers even greater flexibility, allowing students to work with an advisor to select coursework that meets the overall 120 credit hour requirement for graduation. This track is especially suitable for working professionals or those seeking to complete their degree efficiently. Students in this track can also take advantage of options like Interdisciplinary Independent Study and Prior Learning and Experiential Portfolio, which allow them to earn credit for independent work or prior professional experience. Overall, the program structure supports personalized learning, skill development, and efficient degree completion tailored to individual needs.
