COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition requires students to complete a structured set of foundational and specialized courses that build knowledge in human biology, food science, and nutrition, while allowing them to choose a track aligned with their career goals. Core required courses include Anatomy and Physiology, introductory nutrition and food science, lifespan and community nutrition, research methods or statistics, computer applications, and psychology, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of both the scientific and behavioral aspects of nutrition. Students then select one of three tracks. The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) track, which does not require a minor, prepares students for a dietetic internship and includes coursework in microbiology, chemistry, food science, nutrition assessment, medical nutrition therapy, food service management, counseling, and sports nutrition, along with a strong focus on clinical and professional dietetics practice. The Nutrition Science track, also without a minor, is more science-intensive and is designed for students planning for medical or graduate school, with courses in biology, genetics, microbiology, advanced chemistry, biochemistry, and nutrition therapy, providing a deep understanding of the biological and chemical foundations of nutrition. The Nutrition and Wellness track requires a minor and focuses on community health and disease prevention, including courses in health management, health promotion, lifestyle disease risk reduction, program planning, and nutrition education, along with practical experiences. Across all tracks, students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for careers in healthcare, community nutrition, or advanced study in nutrition and related fields.
