COURSE CURRICULUM

The Industrial and Systems Engineering program is a comprehensive, ABET-accredited curriculum designed to equip students with the technical, analytical, and managerial skills needed to design, improve, and optimize complex industrial systems. The required coursework builds a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, engineering science, and applied industrial engineering principles. Students begin with advanced mathematics courses such as analytic geometry and calculus I, II, and III, linear algebra, and probability and statistics, which provide the quantitative tools needed for engineering analysis and decision-making. Core science and engineering fundamentals include general physics I and II, general chemistry with lab, circuit analysis, engineering mechanics (statics), engineering materials and testing, and fundamentals of engineering design processes.The program emphasizes applied industrial engineering through courses such as systems engineering, industrial ergonomics, supply chain management, advanced manufacturing systems, modeling and simulation, operations research, facilities planning, total quality assurance, and manufacturing resource analysis. These courses teach students how to evaluate and improve production systems, optimize workflows, and enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in industrial environments. Technical skills are further strengthened through programmable logic controllers, industrial safety and supervision, and industrial materials and processes.Students also develop essential professional and applied skills through technical communication, engineering economic analysis, and projects in industrial and engineering technology. Additional coursework in computer science or data-focused engineering supports computational and analytical capabilities. A required course in cultural and social diversity helps students understand workplace dynamics in global and diverse environments.Overall, the curriculum blends theory, laboratory work, and applied engineering practice to prepare students for careers in manufacturing, logistics, operations research, supply chain management, quality engineering, and systems optimization.
