COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program requires a total of 72 units and provides comprehensive academic and clinical training to prepare students for professional practice as occupational therapists. The curriculum includes 57 units of core courses that cover foundational and advanced topics such as theoretical foundations of occupational therapy, occupational analysis, functional kinesiology, evaluation methods, and evidence-based practice. Students also study occupational therapy across the lifespan, including children, youth, young adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults, along with community-based practice and professional development. Research training is included through Introduction to Research Methods (GWAR) and advanced research coursework, ensuring students develop strong analytical and evidence-based decision-making skills. The program also incorporates practicum and seminar experiences that allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in supervised settings. Additionally, students complete one seminar course selected with an advisor, which may include an international experience option. A major component of the program is the 12 units of culminating fieldwork, consisting of Field Work Experience and Advanced Field Work Experience, where students gain extensive hands-on clinical experience in real healthcare environments. The program concludes with a 3-unit culminating experience in Advanced Research Methods in Occupational Therapy. Overall, the program integrates theory, research, and extensive clinical practice to prepare graduates for certification, licensure, and successful careers in occupational therapy.
