COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Nursing with a Nurse Educator specialization requires a total of 36 units and is designed to prepare nurses for advanced roles in education, leadership, and clinical practice. The program includes 19 units of core courses that build a strong foundation in advanced nursing concepts, including Population-Based Health Care Systems, Clinical Leadership Role Development, Theoretical Foundations, Advanced Health Assessment, Advanced Clinical Pharmacology, Advanced Physiology and Pathophysiology, and Research Methods, which fulfills the GWAR requirement. These courses develop essential skills in leadership, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice. The Nurse Educator specialization consists of 14 units focused on teaching and curriculum development, including courses such as Using Instructional Media, Curriculum Development in Nursing, and two practicum-based courses that integrate educator theory with direct teaching and clinical experience. These practicums provide hands-on training in academic and healthcare education settings, helping students develop instructional, evaluation, and mentorship skills. The program concludes with a 3-unit culminating experience, where students complete either a Master’s Project or a Master’s Thesis, allowing them to apply research and theoretical knowledge to a real-world nursing education problem.
