COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering with a Concentration in Operational Analytics is a 30-unit graduate program designed to build advanced expertise in data-driven decision-making, systems optimization, and industrial analytics. The program integrates core principles of industrial engineering with modern analytics tools, artificial intelligence, and operations research to prepare students for complex problem-solving in manufacturing, logistics, supply chains, and service systems. It emphasizes the use of quantitative methods and data ethics to improve efficiency, productivity, and system performance in real-world environments.The core curriculum consists of 18 units and provides a strong foundation in analytical and systems engineering methods. Students complete ISE 202 (Design and Analysis of Engineering Experiments, GWAR), which strengthens research design and technical writing skills, and ISE 205 (Data Ethics), which focuses on responsible and ethical use of data in engineering applications. Additional core courses include ISE 230 (Advanced Operations Research), ISE 233 (Operational Data Analysis for Industrial Systems), ISE 240 (Analytics for Systems Engineering), and ISE 244 (AI Tools and Practice for Systems Engineering), all of which develop advanced skills in modeling, optimization, data analysis, and artificial intelligence applications in industrial systems.Students also complete 9 units of approved electives, selecting three courses in consultation with a graduate advisor. Elective options include advanced topics such as supply chain analytics, logistics, operations planning and control, system simulation, quality assurance and reliability, and energy systems analytics, allowing students to specialize in areas aligned with their career goals.The program culminates in a 3-unit experience, completed through either Plan A (Thesis) or Plan B (Project). Both options require students to apply their analytical and engineering knowledge to a significant research or applied problem.Overall, this program prepares graduates for advanced careers in data analytics, operations research, supply chain management, and systems engineering by combining strong technical foundations with modern data science and AI-driven approaches.
